An important aspect to consider when moving abroad is taking out international life cover. International life cover, protects you and your family no matter where you are in the world.

Your existing life cover taken out in your home country might not be valid in your new country, or only cover certain things. Also, the value of the payout once converted to the currency in your new country, may not be sufficient, especially if your home country’s currency is weaker than where you live now.

Why do I need it you may ask?

Life cover isn’t just for immediate expenses after death, but for future expenses too.

  • Your funeral expenses in any country abroad
  • Repatriation costs if your spouse/partner is moving back to your home country
  • Helps pay off any debt such as mortgages and credit cards or loans
  • Could pay for movers if your spouse/partner is selling your house or moving to a smaller place
  • Your children’s future education
  • Pays for children’s care if both parents pass on
  • Could provide a monthly income for your spouse/partner to live comfortable and not worry financially, especially if they are stay home parents/spouses/partners
  • It can provide retirement savings/financial security for your partner/spouse

You don’t buy life insurance because you are going to die, but because those you love are going to live.” - Unknown
