What to Expect on A Desert Safari?

A desert safari allows you to take a trip into the vastly unexplored wilderness, giving you a unique view of the world as we know it. There are many things that could happen on your desert safari, but as long as you use a reputable guide you can relax not fearing that you will become food for the camels. Here is what to expect on a desert safari courtesy of deVere Acuma.

Sand

It goes without saying that sand will get everywhere on your desert safari. Who would have guessed it right? After all a desert is just lots of sand. Sand will find its way into every last crevice of anything you bring with you on the tour so ensure for those of you with dslr cameras that lens changes are done inside the car to ensure sand doesn’t make its way into your expensive camera. This goes for everything you bring with you. The sand will potentially ruin most technology, making its way into charging ports and headphone jacks. Only take things with you that you don’t mind getting a little sandy.

Car Troubles

As much as your guide will do their very best to ensure this doesn’t happen, it is still a possibility. As a passenger on a safari you could be asked to muck in and help the driver out by changing a tyre, digging the car out of a sand drift, of possibly rocking the car after it gets grounded. You will be in a sturdy 4X4 with an experienced tour guide who will do their very best to avoid these issues, but they do happen. Most tours travel in packs, but sometimes the drivers like to have fun and will often leave the pack, meaning you have to replace the other drivers when it comes to getting rolling again.

Beautiful Scenery

You will see the world as never before on a desert safari. Sand dunes as far as the eye can see and total wilderness dominate the vast expanses of desert and it can often become quite disorientating. If you start to feel dizzy because of the barren landscape, try to close your eyes for a few moments and you will soon start to feel better. There are stunning rock formations jutting out from the sand and your guide will take you to all the best spots to take some photos and make memories.

Camels and Other Animals

Throughout your trip you will see camels roaming the wilderness and eagles soaring through the sky. Once you reach the half way point, you will be given then chance to pet camels and have a photoshoot with them. There is a vast array of other animals too at this ranch out in the middle of the desert.

Sumptuous Food and Entertainment

No need to take a picnic on this excursion, included in your ticket prices comes a mouth-watering traditional Arabic dinner. You will be treated to local delights such as ouzi, a succulent lamb couscous which has been buried in the desert sand to bake for a whole day and a variety of other delicious dishes. You will be treated to some traditional entertainment too. This could range from a belly dancer to Turkish spinning tops. It’s a night you will never forget. Whilst sat round the entertainment ring you will be able to see the night sky like never before. With absolutely no light pollution the night sky is lit up with stars shining brightly in the sky.

A desert safari is not an adventure to miss. Perfect four couples looking to have a romantic trip out or for families looking to show your kids how beautiful nature can be. Just don’t forget your sick bag as a lot of people can become very car sick from being thrown around in the car as you fly over dunes!!
